Ransom Reynolds was raised in California but fell in love with New Mexico while attending Colorado College where he received his Bachelor degree.  In 1970, following service in the Marine Corps, Ransom joined his father-in-law Bill Hunker in real estate in Santa Fe at Bishop, Manuel & Hunker, Inc., the predecessor company to Reynolds Insurance, .

Moving to the insurance side of the Company, he graduated from the United States Fidelity & Guaranty Insurance School in Baltimore, MD in 1972.

Ransom purchased Bishop, Manuel & Hunker, Inc. in 1973. He had served on the board of the Independent Insurance Agents of New Mexico and the board of Millers American Insurance Company of Fort Worth. He received his CIC designation in 1981. Ransom was president and owner of Reynolds Insurance, Inc. and Reynolds Financial Services, . until his sudden death on July 18, 2007

Susan Phillips inherited Reynolds Insurance, Inc. from her late husband, Ransom Reynolds who died suddenly in July 2007.  She began to work more closely with the agency at the time and continued Ransom’s succession plan to sell the agency to Jake Rodar.  An Exercise Physiologist by profession Susan brought management and customer service experience with over 18 years at St. Vincent Regional Medical Center most recently as the Clinical Manager for Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and Arroyo Chamiso Pediatric Rehabilitation.

After completing the sale of Reynolds Insurance Susan retired in October of 2009 and now spends most of her time as President of the Ransom Reynolds Memorial Foundation – a 501c(3) designated public charity – (www.ransomreynolds.org).
